False color IR Aster image of the Goldfield mining district, southern Nevada acquired on August 24, 2001.

Alteration enhancement from the Aster SWIR channels.  Alunite/pyrophyllite is mapped to red, kaolinite to green, and illite to blue.  The RGB mixing of the responses shows the alteration zonation within the district.
